Briego Roble Ribera del Duero 2009

Briego Roble Ribera del Duero 2009

Winemaking has always been a tradition in the village of Fompedraza where this wine is made, although some of the vineyards disappeared with the agricultural reconvention. The Benito Hernando brothers, Fernando, Gaspar and Javier, owners of Bodegas Briego, have revived this tradition that their father was already starting to do in the 60's. They have called this project Briego, synonym of fight - fight for the quality of this wine, fight to defend rural life and fight to revive the village of Fompedraza. Their wines are produced from the Tempranillo grape and undergo a controlled fermentation to obtain the best quality in terms of body, structure and fruit aromas. After resting for a few months in stainless-steel vats and clarifying through the cold winter months, the wine is transferred to age in French and American oak barrels. They currently stock 500 American oak barrels and 450 French oak ones. Once the wine is aged in oak, they carry out the final blending of the wine. After bottling the wine rests in the cellar to mature prior to release.
