Geoff Merrill Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre 2007

The beauty of this blend of varieties is the complexity of fruit characters it delivers. On the aroma there is plum, mint and eucalyptus with hints of licorice and chocolate. Time spent in large oak barrels has integrated the components and added some complex cedar wood notes. The palate is soft and even and of medium weight and body. Although not immediately evident, fine firm underlying tannins exist tying the palate structure together. The acid is very well balanced and the finish is clean leaving a lingering raspberry flavour on the finish.
