Few places in the world can claim to have all a wine lover could desire. Boschendal Winery is one such unique destination. Only an hour’s drive from Cape Town, this magnificent winery is situated in the picturesque Groot Drakenstein Valley, at the gateway to Franschhoek. A veritable feast for the senses, Boschendal lays claim to a proud winemaking tradition stretching back to the late 17thcentury. From award winning wines, to fine dining and exquisite grounds, this world class estate seamlessly blends its rich past with a tireless commitment to constant innovation.
The cool growing conditions produce elegant wines, charming with attractive ripe fruit flavours and well structured mouth feel and character resulting in award winning wines. Boschendal has a large variation of terrior, and a replanting programme, which was started in the early 1990’s, was based on matching premium varietals to specific terrior sites and today we are seeing the benefits of this process.
We are delighted to be able to offer you the following wines.
Chenin Viognier 2010 A blend of 80% Chenin Blancand 20% Viognier, un-oaked fruit led style with tropical fruit aromas. On the pallet you will find melon, tropical and stone fruits flavours such as apricots with subtle hints of spice. A full bodied white with a satisfying long finish. This wine isideal with tuna steak, chicken and pork dishes.
Shiraz Cabernet 2009 This light easy drinking red wine, is a blend of 55% Shiraz and 45%Cabernet Sauvignon. It gives ripe plum & juicy blackcurrant flavours.Matured for 6 months in large oak vats, this is an easydrinking style for all occasions.
Shiraz Viognier 2010 A blend of 90% Shiraz and10% Viognier—a seductive blend characterised by pronounced &
sumptuous dark red fruits. On the nose hints of spice followed by classic peppery notes and on the palate the Viognier lends a touch of floral perfume to a wine. A long & rounded finish. Enjoy with tomato based sauces and meat dishes, and particularly good with venison.
